SUMMARY:Bright Days Ahead… Hypernomalization
DESCRIPTION:\nA Second Year MFA Exhibition by Daniel Roșca\n\n\n\nKresge Art Center | Gallery 101 \n\n\n\nNovember 2-November 13 | Reception November 12, 6-8pm\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSTATEMENT\n\n\n\nThe future has never looked brighter!\n\n\n\nImagine a world of unlimited possibilities. \n\n\n\nA world where technology gives you more freedom, more happiness, and more time to enjoy life. \n\n\n\nWhere robots do the work for you, diseases are a thing of the past, and you can travel across the galaxy without leaving your couch.\n\n\n\nEverything is faster, smarter, cleaner, and more efficient. \n\n\n\nA world of endless abundance.\n\n\n\nThe future is here. And it’s only getting better.\n\n\n\nBut is it?\n\n\n\nFor the past 100 years, we’ve been promised that technology would save us time. If it saves us so much time, why don’t we have it?\n\n\n\nInstead, we seem to invest it with producing more, consuming more, and accelerating the pace of everyday life. When does saving time become skipping life itself?\n\n\n\nWe recognize the damage, yet we remain seduced by the promise of endless progress.\n\n\n\nAnother glacier melts, another forest burns, and every summer feels hotter than the last. There is a quiet hypernormalisation in how we absorb each new loss, until what should be another warning begins to feel like the natural order of things.\n\n\n\nThe world is changing so quickly that sometimes I miss home while inhabiting my home.\n\n\n\nEven the waters that once brought me peace now carry the traces of everything we’ve left behind.\n\n\n\nEach new warning makes me more anxious. Yet the more I understand, a growing sense of eco-paralysis overcomes me.\n\n\n\nAnd yet, we keep moving forward, as if the consequences belong to someone else.\n\n\n\nAfter us, the deluge.\n\n\n\nWe have developed the intelligence to reshape the world, but have we gained the wisdom to foresee where our choices might lead?\n

<p><strong>STATEMENT</strong></p>

<p><em>The future has never looked brighter!</em></p>

<p>Imagine a world of unlimited possibilities.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A world where technology gives you more freedom, more happiness, and more time to enjoy life.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Where robots do the work for you, diseases are a thing of the past, and you can travel across the galaxy without leaving your couch.</p>

<p>Everything is faster, smarter, cleaner, and more efficient.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A world of endless abundance.</p>

<p><em>The future is here. And it&#8217;s only getting better.</em></p>

<p>But is it?</p>

<p>For the past 100 years, we&#8217;ve been promised that technology would save us time. If it saves us so much time, why don&#8217;t we have it?</p>

<p>Instead, we seem to invest it with producing more, consuming more, and accelerating the pace of everyday life. When does saving time become skipping life itself?</p>

<p>We recognize the damage, yet we remain seduced by the promise of endless progress.</p>

<p>Another glacier melts, another forest burns, and every summer feels hotter than the last. There is a quiet hypernormalisation in how we absorb each new loss, until what should be another warning begins to feel like the natural order of things.</p>

<p><em>The world is changing so quickly that sometimes I miss home while inhabiting my home.</em></p>

<p>Even the waters that once brought me peace now carry the traces of everything we&#8217;ve left behind.</p>

<p>Each new warning makes me more anxious. Yet the more I understand, a growing sense of eco-paralysis overcomes me.</p>

<p>And yet, we keep moving forward, as if the consequences belong to someone else.</p>

<p><em>After us, the deluge.</em></p>

<p>We have developed the intelligence to reshape the world, but have we gained the wisdom to foresee where our choices might lead?</p>
