“Peace is Possible” with Yossi Beilin and Hiba Husseini

Veteran peace negotiators Yossi Beilin and Hiba Husseini will discuss their plan for peace between Israelis and Palestinians, a path forward for the future, and their activities around the globe to promote a peaceful future. Since 2020 Yossi Beilin and Hiba Husseini have been the main authors of The Holy Land Confederation (HLC) As a Facilitator of the Two-State Solution. It is an unofficial draft proposal for a permanent status agreement, developed between 2020 and 2022 by a joint Israeli-Palestinian team led by Beilin and Husseini. It builds on the 2003 Geneva Initiative and is intended to help implement the two-state solution. A second Edition to this was finished in July 2025. Hiba Husseini is the managing partner at the Law Firm of Husseini and Husseini. Under her management the Firm serves a large domestic and international client base on a wide range of legal matters. She practiced law in Washington, DC.

Yossi Beilin’s lengthy career of public service began in 1984 with his appointment as Cabinet Secretary. A member of Knesset between 1988 and 2008 (for the Meretz-Yachad Party from 2006-2008 and the Labor Party from 1988-1999), Dr. Beilin has held various ministerial positions in different governments between 1984 and 2008, including: Deputy Foreign Minister, Deputy Finance Minister, Minister of Economy and Planning, Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Minister for Religious Affairs, and Minister of Justice. Dr. Beilin initiated the Oslo peace process and the informal Geneva Peace Accord, and serves now as the Chairman of the “Geneva Initiative.” The Palestinian Peace Coalition and H.L. Education for Peace, jointly known as the Geneva Initiative, launched the Two State Solution Coalition in April 2018, with generous support from the European Commission within the framework of the EU Peacebuilding Initiative. The coalition brings together more than twenty influential Palestinian and Israeli civil society organizations that support and promote the two-state solution.

Dr. Beilin is Chairman of the Steering Committee of the H.L. Education for Peace. He is founder and President of Beilink International Affairs Ltd., an international consulting firm since 2008 and cofounded the Economic Cooperation Foundation in 1990. Dr. Beilin earned a Ph.D. in Political Science, Tel Aviv University, 1981 and served as a Global Distinguished Professor at NYU 2022-2023. He is the author of numerous books, including The Path to Geneva: the Quest for a Permanent Agreement (2004) and most recently, Secrets I Won’t Take With Me (2021).

Hiba Husseini is the managing partner at the Law Firm of Husseini and Husseini. Under her management the Firm serves a large domestic and international client base on a wide range of legal matters. She practiced law in Washington, DC. Ms. Husseini is a political and policy advisor and analyst, who chaired the Legal Committee to Final Status Negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis. She has served as legal advisor to the peace process negotiations since 1994. Ms. Husseini participates in various meetings that seek to interject innovative thinking to the hard and complex issues involved in the peace process, especially Jerusalem. She has written widely on the peace process, the rule of law, economic development and Jerusalem. Ms. Husseini has coauthored with Dr. Yossi Beilin, The Holy Land Confederation, an enabler to the two-state solution. Ms. Husseini serves on the boards of various educational, professional, cultural, business, and non-profit organizations, including: the Vice Chair of the Palestine Bourse from 1998-2005; member, International Advisory Panel of the American Law Institute, and contributor in 2015 to the drafting of the Restatement of the Law Fourth the Foreign Relations Law of the United States; Board of Trustees of Al Quds University; the American Board of the Middle East Partnership for Peace Fund (MEPPA) and is a fellow in the International Dialogue Initiative (IDI). Ms. Husseini holds a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University (1992), MA in Political Science from the George Washington University (1986), MSc in Corporate Finance from the University of Sorbonne (2002), BA in Political Science from the University of Tennessee (1982).
