“4 GEORGE: an Idlewild aenon” is a living archive and a speculative natural history museum that bends time and reanimates memory. The artworks of Thomas and hicks are in conversation with, inspired by and created within the African American historic resort town of Idlewild, Michigan established in 1912.
This multi-media show features individual works by Thomas and hicks, such as Thomas’ paintings and box sculptures of nostalgic tableaus and hicks’ paintings and films of fantastical scenes of Lake Idlewild. Also included are the collaborative works of Thomas and hicks – a sculpture of an animated Idlewild nightclub scene, vibrant fabric art and other installation works.
