Faculty Media Training Workshop – How to Amplify Your Work through Media & PR

The workshop is open to all faculty in the College of Arts & Letters.

This is an in-person workshop and will be held on campus at Wells Hal, Room B243. Lunch will be provided.

Workshop Agenda

The thought of working with the media can be daunting. This workshop will provide you with tips and techniques for successful media interviews, including what journalists are looking for during an interview. Learn more about:

  • Developing and preparing your key messages using shared language.
  • Staying on message and controlling the interview with media.
  • Handling tough questions from TV, news, and radio journalists.
  • Working with The Conversation, a media outlet that publishes faculty experts as authors.

Presenters will include experts from MSU University Communications, Finn Partners, and the College of Arts & Letters Marketing Office.

Additionally, Mohammad Hassan Khalil, Professor in the Department of Religious Studies and Director of Muslim Studies, will share about his media experiences and insights in this increasingly important realm of public scholarship.

NOTE: This workshop is currently full, but please email Beth Bonsall at bonsallb@msu.edu if you’d like to be notified of future media training opportunities.
