Operated by Allen Neighborhood Center (ANC) and located within the city of Lansing’s Hunter Park, the GardenHouse and Edible Park serve as a demonstration site for year-round urban garden and farm education, and as a hub where neighbors volunteer to grow food, flowers, and community. The GardenHouse is a sustainably farmed greenhouse that grows produce for ANC’s Veggie Box Community Supported Agriculture program as well as its Breadbasket Food Pantry. Edible Park is a free-to-all, you-pick community garden and orchard serving Lansing’s Eastside with seasonal fresh food. Volunteering will start at the Allen Neighborhood Center and transition to the GardenHouse.

Volunteers at Hunter Park can expect a wide range of activities depending on current growing cycles and seasonal needs. This may include:

• Compost and mulch spreading
• Weeding
• Watering
• Harvesting
• Tool cleaning
• Planting
