Head Over Heels

The Michigan State University Department Theatre begins its spring semester of performances with the musical comedy Head Over Heels, set to the music of the iconic 80’s all-female rock band The Go-Go’s. Performance dates are February 18-20 and 22-27 in the Auditorium Building’s Fairchild Theatre. Attendees must be masked and show proof of vaccination or a negative test within 72 hours, along with ID.

Adapted from the plot of The Countess of Pembroke’s Arcadia, a 16th century prose romance by Sir Philip Sidney, this laugh-out-loud love story includes the hit songs, “We Got the Beat,” “Our Lips Are Sealed,” “Vacation,” and Belinda Carlisle’s “Heaven is a Place on Earth” and “Mad About You.” A hilarious, exuberant celebration of love follows the escapades of a royal family on an outrageous journey to save their beloved kingdom from extinction —  only to discover the key to their realm’s survival lies within each of their own hearts.

Director Brad Willcuts says he hopes audiences will enjoy a night out at the theatre for a few hours of escape to a fantastical world. “Audiences will want to dance in the aisles and sing along. It’s a great show for young and old alike. We encourage everyone to escape their cares and worries and join us for an uplifting, hilarious night of musical theatre.”

Content Notice: This show includes strobe lighting and fog/haze. Recommended for ages 12 and up.
