Investigation Station: The MSU Museum Wants Your Help in Tracking and Tracing a Quilt With Mysteries!

A quilt with mysteries is in the MSU Museum collections; it was recently donated by a relative of Albert Case, for whom MSU’s Case Hall was named. There already are many bits of information embroidered on the quilt but the curatorial and collection staff are interested in finding out more about the quilt, including who was involved in making the quilt, why was it made, what is the history of the Michigan community in which it was made, and why are portraits of the wives of the 1892 U.S. Presidential candidates on the quilt?

The MSU Museum wants your help to begin the investigation! Visitors will be able to engage in object-based inquiry by viewing the quilt, sharing their own observations about clues they see that need to be investigated, and sharing their thoughts of resources and trails to follow for this research.
