SLS Dissertation Defense: Curtis Green-Eneix
Come and support Second Language Studies (SLS) Ph.D. Candidate Curtis Green-Eneix, as he defends his doctoral dissertation “Intersectional Identities and Performed Language Ideologies: Stories Of Becoming A US K-12 Content Teacher.” In this public and hybrid event, Curtis will present his narrative case study examining how undergraduate pre-service teachers’ language ideologies, their lived experiences, and their intersecting identities (e.g., linguistic, socioeconomic, race, and nationality) inform their understanding of whether language integrates into their content teaching and multilingual students’ learning. Through his findings, he argues that participants filter their linguistic ideologies in relation to their lived realities and are practiced to form their understanding of being a content teacher in the United States.
