Abstract: In this talk, I will begin with a brief overview of Wales and Swansea in the United Kingdom (UK). I will then give a general introduction to Welsh language and culture, from my perspective as a newcomer to Wales and Welsh learning. Also, I would like to share the applied linguistics research on Welsh language and culture at Swansea, including a cross-institutional project, CorCenCC (Corpws Cenedlaethol Cymraeg Cyfoes) – the National Corpus of Contemporary Welsh, which was funded by the UK government. Lastly, I hope to invite everyone to engage in conversations about exploring second language culture and research.
