Painting depicting a luminous figure on horseback traveling down a wet street at night. Neon lights from storefronts reflect on the slick pavement in pink, blue, and yellow tones beneath a dark, clouded sky.

Tenpenny Parlour Tricks

Second Year MFA Exhibition by Colin Day

Kresge Gallery 101 | October 13-24

Closing reception: October 24 at 6:30 pm

Every mistake I have ever made has brought me this moment. Every act, thought, decision, and circumstance. Every object and picture that I have seen and held. Every dream. They are all props occupying my interior. They are scars that face the world. The only thing that is unique to me is this collection of memories, dreams, fears, and desires I am built of. Tenpenny Parlour Tricks is a body of work focused on the borderlands between the interior and the exterior. It is both literal and metaphorical; the objects are dioramic and theatrical but are also analogs to my emotional landscapes, and how I have obscured them from public view through social masking. Welcome to the show, there will be no intermission.
