Dr Pamela Cyril Egware

Dr Pamela Cyril Egware is a renowned textile artist from Nigeria, whose lyrical batiks use the imagery of water and marine life to evoke the island in southern Nigeria where she was born. Educated at both the University of Port Harcourt and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Dr Cyril Egware is currently a Professor of Textile Design in the Department of Fine Arts & Design, Faculty of Humanities, University of Port Harcourt. She is also the inaugural Visiting Professor of Apparel and Textile Design in the Department of Art, Art History and Design at Michigan State University, where she has spent fall semester teaching two classes—one in African Resist Printing and the other in African Garment Construction.While in the US, Cyril-Egware is also exhibiting her work at Goldmark Cultural Center in Dallas, TX, where she is a Visiting Artist. A prolific author and passionate artist, Cyril-Egware exhibits extensively and publishes consistently in scholarly journals that address fashion, textile design and fiber art.
