Things That Stay brings together the work of Anna Buckner, Debbie Carlos, and Michael Pfleghaar whose practices intersect through material sensitivity, formal experimentation, and exploring the everyday.
Anna Buckner’s hand-stitched canvases carry intimacy and tenderness. Pieced together from fabric fragments, seams, and painted surfaces, her works hold memory in their construction. The combination of material becomes an act of preservation, a meditation on time and belonging.
Debbie Carlos imbues a sense of care into clay with smooth edges and painterly glazes. Each vessel evokes stillness and movement while fountains offer a sanctuary for the natural world. Her work is a quiet gesture – encouraging pause and intentionality in the day-to-day.
Michael Pfleghaar’s work transforms landscape and interior spaces into sites of abstraction. Using bold geometry, flattened perspective, and saturated color, objects and landscapes become metaphors for identity and reflection.
Together, Buckner, Carlos, and Pfleghaar create a dialogue centered on perception and intimacy. Their works ask us to notice the textures, rhythms, and the subtle beauty embedded in daily life. Things That Stay is a call for presence.
